Calicut International Airport - CCJ

Calicut airport is also known as Kozhikode airport or Karipur airport and it is the twelfth busiest airport in India. The luxurious and pragmatic interiors coupled with expedient facilities, including leather sleeperettes for transit passengers, has made it one of the best airports in the country. Indigo, Jet Airways, Spicejet and Air India are some of the domestic flights that operate from Calicut airport. Most of the international flights from Calicut airport fly to Gulf countries. Calicut airport is located about 25 kilometers from Malappuram and 28 kilometers from Kozhikode. 

Terminal 1: Domestic terminal has the capacity to cater to 250 passengers at peak hours

Terminal 2: International terminal has the capacity to cater to 500 passengers at peak hours

The nearest city to Calicut airport is Kozhikode. 

Bus

City bus service and interstate bus service is available from Kondotty Bus stand, which is about three kilometers from the airport. Head north on Calicut Airport Rd toward Thurakkal Airport Road. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto NH213 and pass by the gas station (on the right), Kondotty bus stand will be on the right. You may get buses to all the leading locations in malappuram, Kozhikode and Palakkad district from this bus stand. Low floor AC bus, private bus and Kerala RTC buses are available in this bus stand. Travelers may book the ticket online, 30 days prior to the journey date. One may travel from Calicut airport to Cochin airport by paying INR 340. 

Pre-paid taxis

There are pre-paid taxis at the exit in Calicut airport in both domestic and international and domestic terminal. One has to pay between INR 4,000 and Rs 5,500 to reach Cochin airport from Calicut airport. To reach Kalpetta, you may need to pay around INR 2700 and it takes about two to three hours. Currently, there are no services by Ola or Uber taxis. However, it is expected that they would start their service soon from Calicut airport. 

Train

Nearest railway station to Calicut airport is Kozhikkode railway station(CLT) which is about 25 kilometres from the airport. You may take a pre-paid taxi from the airport to reach railway station. For long distance travels, it is better to depend on trains. Train fare from Calicut to Ernakulam Junction is INR 490 for third AC and INR 695 for second AC. Train fare from Calicut to Kannur station is INR 535 for third AC, INR 740 for second AC and INR 1235 for first AC. 

Autorickshaw

The minimum rate charged by auto is INR 20 for the first 1.5km and an extra INR 10 per km. Auto drivers in Calicut are usually polite, charges the right amount for the travel, and depends on meter reading to decide the charges. However, you may ask for an estimate before making the trip.

There are ample power outlets in the departure hall of both domestic and international terminals. 

Kottayam Cars

Kottayam Cars is one of the leading self-driving car rental options in Kerala. Travelers need to provide KYC documents to verify the authenticity. Kottayam Cars provide automatic cars, manual cars and luxury cars. They do not have an outlet inside the airport. However, they provide pick up from the airport.
