Getting into Rome
Take the express train
Train
The Leonardo Express train goes non-stop from the airport to central Termini Station and is really the only way to get into the city. Journey time is 32 minutes, and it leaves every 30 minutes (every 15 at busy times). Tip: Your train ticket can be used to get a discount on the Fast Track service and into VIP lounges in the airport.
Watch out: Don't forget to validate your ticket on the platform, otherwise, you could be fined. (You can also take the cheaper suburban train, FL1, but you will have to change to a Metro or tram to get to the central areas. If you're going to Florence, however, this is the best option. Take the train to Tiburtina Station and change.)
Cost: EUR 14 one-way
Buying tickets: Machines on the platforms (skip the ticket machine on the way which can have long queues)
Location: Terminal 1 and 3, before security, arrivals
Taxi
If you would still like the comfort of a taxi, you can always choose to pay the fixed price fare into Rome. This can work out cheaper if there's a large group of you.
To get this price, make sure you take a taxi licensed by the Comune di Roma. They are white Fiats with SPQR, a license number and the fixed price written on the doors. Others may use a meter and may be more expensive.
Cost: EUR 48 into the city center for up to four passengers and luggage (no need to tip)
