Getting into Montreal
Take the 747 bus service
There are no trains going to Montréal Airport, though there are plans for a light rail line to the airport. However, that won't open until at least 2020, so for now, the bus is the best option, and the service is good.
Bus
There are four public transport bus routes from the airport, run by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM). The most convenient is the 747 airport line, taking you to downtown Montréal in 45-60 minutes.
The service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, between the airport and the central bus station (Gare d'autocars de Montréal - Berri-UQAM métro station), with seven stops in between. Buses run every 10-12 minutes at peak times, and every 30 or 60 minutes at off-peak times. Free Wi-Fi is available on most buses.
Your ticket gives you unlimited travel throughout the STM bus and métro network for 24 hours.
Cost: CAD 10 for a 1-day-pass (you can also use a 3-day, weekend, weekly or monthly pass)
Buying tickets: Vending machines in international arrivals area (cash or card) or on the bus (exact coins only)
Taxi
It's a fixed rate to downtown Montréal, and a journey time of around 30 minutes.
Cost: CAD 40 flat-fare to downtown (plus 10-20% tip) - other journeys are metred, with a minimum fare of CAD 17
Location: Arrivals level, near the central exit
Going further afield?
You can take inter-city trains to Ottawa, Toronto and Quebec from the nearby VIA Rail station in Dorval. A free shuttle bus runs there regularly from the airport.
